The Day of Atonement is a day for repentence and the covering of sin.  These offerings point forward to Jesus Christ, whose work purifies our hearts, cleanses our consciences, and frees us to do good deeds for His glory.

In this session, we see how the story of Joseph reveals three ways that God remains faithful to His covenant. He remains faithful by bringing fruit out of our affliction, by showing us a picture of forgiveness, and by overruling evil with good. With confidence in the steadfast love and faithfulness of God, we are called to offer forgiveness to those who have wronged us and to trust Him no matter our circumstances.  Click here to download the notes from this study.

In this session, we will learn that God is a covenant-making God. Because of sin, the people on earth had been separated from God (Eden) and each other (Babel), but God chose one man, one family, through whom He promised to reverse this separation. This promise was later fulfilled through Abraham’s descendant—Jesus of Nazareth. And this promise continues to be fulfilled today through the mission of Jesus’ church as peoples from all over the world become part of God’s family through faith in the gospel. Genesis 12:1-4, Genesis 15:1-6, and Genesis 17:1-14.  Richard Baker, guest teacher.  Click here to download the notes from this study.

In this session, we will see how sin spread from Adam and Eve to their descendants - Cain and Abel.  Sin begins with evil desires that lead to action against God and our neighbors, actions that derserve God's condemnation.  Thankfull, God offers a merciful promise powerful enough to overcome our sin, and through His grace, we are rescued.
